A unique volcanic landscape northwest of Tenerife
In northwest Tenerife, the landscapes of the Arenas Negras and Chinyero volcanoes offer a wilder and less busy experience than the central areas of Teide National Park.
The path of Arenas Negras crosses vast areas of consolidated lava, which contrast with the Canary Islands pines that gradually spread again on this volcanic soil. Further south, the Chinyero volcano, which last erupted in 1909, reminds us that the island is still alive and has been shaped by its volcanic activity.
Hike in Arenas Negras and to the Chinyero volcano
The most convenient starting point is in the Arenas Negras recreation area, which is easily accessible by car and ideal for starting the hike.

These accessible and quiet paths make it possible to discover a more authentic face of Tenerife, far from the large crowds.
For those who want to discover even more, we share more practical information and photos in our special article on our blog: tenerife-bnb-jardinalmar.blog.
