The flora of Tenerife, garden of the Atlantic

Tenerife offers an incredible diversity of plants, the result of its many microclimates and contrasting landscapes, from the arid coastline to the humid forests of altitude.
In the north of the island, we find a profusion of ornamental plants: hydrangeas, agapanthus, ferns, laurels, bouganvillas, daturas, hibiscus, poinsettias... that color the gardens throughout the year.

The drier areas are home to succulent plants such as agaves, aloes or prickly pears, while exotic ones like the strelitzia (or bird of paradise) add a tropical touch.

Some local species impress with their spectacular flowering, such as the red tajinaste, typical of volcanic areas, or the swan-neck agave (Agave attenuata), with its large arched flower stalk.

An exceptional flora to discover also on my blog : tenerife-bnb-jardinalmar.blog.
